Phoenix AZ. 8 & 0, San Diego CA. 3 & 2

This summer Premier Elite had a very successful trip to Phoenix Arizona to the Nike "Tournament of Champions". We left Phoenix undefeated, eight wins no loses. This included big wins, one against a tough team out of Fremont California, also defeating "Long Beach, CA. - Jordan" for the pool championship, "McNary out of the Salem OR. area" for the group semi finals, and a revenge victory (from an earlier lost this spring) over"Seattle Radiance" in the group Championship game. We then traveled to San Diego for the Mid Summer Nights Madness, Western Championships and won our first 3 games before losing to the eventual champions MRC out of the San Francisco area in a quarter final game. We then lost a close game to Arizona Elite in a consolation game but overall, what a successful road trip.

It was hot in Arizona, but Premier Elite was hotter, jelling at the right time. And we rode that success right into San Diego before losing by 7 to the eventual champions in a tough game. I'm going to take time to mention every player on this trip and their contributions because it was a complete team effort. Jennifer Patterson & Lauren Heller probably saw the fewest minutes but both made key contributions in big games. Jennifer defensively, and grabbing rebounds and Lauren had one game where she hit 3 traditional (and one) 3 point play's. Good job ladies. "Mo" Katelyn Henson provided length, tough defense, and she really grew though out the tournament to help us to victorys. Haley Smith was our big banger. We went up against some tough teams with some really tall ladies. Haley stayed tough all summer for us and didn't back down off of anyone, even when she was out sized. She provided a surprising offensive punch for us and we where happy to have her. Tori Conley and Sarah Mason stabilized our bench and really provided big punches at the right time all summer long. Tori's length and offensive ability was just what we needed and Sarah (force to play out of position at times this summer) was exactly what the doctor ordered and made big plays at big times. Cass Cloyd literally carried the team on her back to a few victories this summer with her offensive explosions in key times during big games. Shamerica Scott's overall hustle, enthusiasm, rebounding, athleticism and true grit prove to be the difference maker for us all summer long. Caitlynn Jackson's "never say die" competitive attitude, along with key scoring punches at big times for us was a major factor to our success. Melissa Williams, her length, athleticism, scoring, rebounding and great defense was as important to us as anyone. And Justine Joudrey was clutch with big time scoring and ball handling that propelled us to victory after victory. I also want to mention both Caitlin Bower and McKenzie Heberer who both played roles in our success early but weren't able to make the last two tournaments.

Thank you Premier Elite Black for representing Southwest Washington proudly.
