SW Washington Girl's Basketball has taken on a completely different look since I started this site three years ago

These past two years have seen some tremendous changes in the landscape of women's basketball here in Southwest Washington. In the 3A & 4A there are only three coaches that have been with their teams for more than 3 years. (Prairie, Kelso, and Fort Vancouver) Out of the other 9 teams, none has had the same head coach for over 2 years. The 2A is just as crazy with only two coaches with more than 2 years on the job. Wow...

And now the league's have teams shifting classifications, Ridgefield HS moves from 2A to 1A. Mountain View HS and Kelso HS will go down to 3A and Union HS will go up to 4A. So the GSHL3A will now have 7 teams, and the GSHL4A & 2A will have 5 teams.

League play for the 2A and the 4A will have each team playing the other teams, 3 times. All 3 league's teams will now have 12 league games of their allotted 20 game schedule. Every week during league play, there will be one team with an off night, probably playing a team out of the other league. This will get confusing. Hang in there. Then there is the District Playoffs, hang on this will be interesting.

With new coaches and student athletes moving to different schools, this leaves the leagues wide open, with no real set favorites. It will be an interesting year. Stay tuned.
