Not a good weekend for GSHL 4A teams

The GSHL 4A teams because of the way the playoffs were structured, faced a one game, winner goes to state, playoff against the KINGCO league out of Seattle Saturday night. Evergreen with their district championship hosted the 3rd place team from the KingCo district tournament. Unfortunately for the Plainsmen, it happen to be the #2 team in the state (via Maxpreps.com), Issaquah. They 3 point shot and pressured an underman'd and injured Evergreen team to a 57 - 29 victory. Shamerica Scott had 15 points and 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough. Mackenzie Schiltz scored 19 points, five 3 pointers and Blaire Brady scored 16, 4 for 4 from the 3 point line for Issaquah. The season is over for the Plainsmen, but they turned around an 0-20 season, to become District Champs. CONGRATULATIONS. We wish good luck to Issaquah at state.

Skyview played the #2 team from the Kingco district tournament, Newport HS ranked #1 in the state. Newport jumped out to a 12 point lead and never looked back defeating Skyview 69 - 44. Larissa Hamilton had 10 to led the Storm, Betsie Kingma had 30 for Newport.

IN THE GSHL 3A

The Prairie Falcon's do it again, Congratulations, they are going back to state. With a 64 - 58 victory over White River HS they have punch their ticket to state. They will still compete in the regional tournament but state is a lock with this win. Angela Gelhar's 20 led the Falcon's, Lauren Goecke had 10, Jackie Lanz scored 15, and Emily Rowe had 11.

The Union Titan's keep there hopes for state alive with a victory over Tyee HS 50 - 31. Brittney Blumenthal scored 14 points to led the Falcon's.

Camas stub their toe Friday night with a lost to Mt. Rainer 56 - 51. They still have a chance to back door their way into the state tournament, but it want be easy. Melissa Williams scored 16 and Katelyn Henson had 15 for the Papermaker's.

IN THE GSHL 2A

Things didn't go well this weekend for the GSHL 2A teams, all three teams lost, and the forth team Washougal was beaten and knocked out of the playoffs, earlier in the week.

After a tight 1st half and an injury to Kylie Moses, Woodland couldn't hold off Black Hills HS and was defeated 71 - 60. Taylor McCullough led the Beaver's with 13 points, Kylie and sister Kaityln Moses, along with Emily Smith ended the game with 10.

Ridgefield was defeated by Tumwater HS 54 - 42. Shelby Williams goes for 12 and Nichole Kates has 16 for the Spudder's.

Hockinson goes down to Elma HS 73 - 54. Ashley Haden and Amanda McCarty score 21 each for the Hawk's.

4A District Champion's Evergreen Plainsmen

In a tough defensive battle, Evergreen out lasted Skyview 29 - 24. Both teams played outstanding defense and Justine Joudrey prove to be the difference, scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals before being hurt her elbow and leaving the game. Shamerica Scott with her hustle and presences dominated all game long, grabbing 14 rebounds and being instrumental with her defense. The girl's played hard and tough, congratulations and I'm very proud.

The Plainsmen hold serve and handle Kelso

After not playing a game for 12 days the Evergreen Plainsmen started a bit rusty, but once they shook their rust off in the 1st quarter, they controlled the game, and defeated Kelso 51 - 37. With great defense, they held the Lassie's to 8 points in the 2nd quarter and 6 points in the 3rd. Justine Joudrey showed why she's consider the best player in Southwest Washington scoring 19 points and just playing like a lchampion. Big time player, making big time plays, at big time moments. Shamerica Scott was the MVP of the game scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 rebounds for the Plainsmen. Carly Perkins scored 19 points and Natasha Martin 12, but only one other player scored for Kelso.

CAMAS the new King of the Hill in the GSHL 3A

Yep, you heard right, Camas upset Prairie 59 - 46. The lost of all those players from last year's team, caught up to the Falcon's. After a couple of closer then normal wins down the stretch in league, Prairie got their wings clip by the Papermaker's in the District Championship game. Melissa Williams, and Katelyn Henson the usual big scores for Camas, differed last night to Kendra Preuninger 11, Kayla Roche 16, and Haley Smith 17 and 10 rebounds. Prairie still has a promising future led last night by freshmen Emily Rowe with 19 and Jackie Lanz scoring 11. But the NEW CHAMPS of the GSHL 3A the CAMAS PAPERMAKER'S.

It was a complete victory for Kelso over Heritage 57 - 40, last night in the 2nd round of the GSHL 4A District tournament. Dispite a "box & 1" gimmic defense to try and stop Carly Perkins she still scored 22 points to led the Lassie's in scoring. Mackenzie Martin had 14. For Heritage they were led by Tashawna Gordon with 14.

So the 2A finish with no surprises

Well one surprise, R.A. Long stuns Washougal 57 - 43, but the Panther's back into the playoffs anyway. Tirzah Coalman scores 20 and Averie Bogner 10 to led the Lumberjill's to a victory in their final game. Alicia McElroy scores 27 for the Panther's.

Ridgefield gets by Mark Morris 53 - 45, Shelby Williams hits 22 points and Nichole Kates 16 to led the Spudder's. Christie Kirkpatrick leads the Monarch's with 14.

Woodland wrap up 1st place, with a 14 point, 4th quarter come back victory over Hockinson 47 - 44. Charity Arn scores 18 and Taylor McCullough 10 to led the Beaver's. The Hawk's Amanda McCarty scored 12 and Ashley Haden had 10.

DISTRICT PLAYOFFS IN 3A

Camas squeezes by Union 37 - 32. Melissa Williams scores 20 points and leads the Papermaker's to victory. Next up for Camas is Prairie for the 2A District Championship.

The final week for GHSL 2A and the Playoffs start in 3A & 4A

In the GSHL 2A, things look a little unsure now with Ridgefield defeating Woodland soundly 62 - 32. After a close first quarter, the Spudder's opened it up and ran away from the Beaver's. Shelby Williams scored 25 points and Penny Hughes 16 to lead Ridgefield. Charity Arn scored 10 for Woodland. With one game left, there is a one game lead for Woodland over Ridgefield.

A last second win for Washougal over Mark Morris 61 - 60, pushes a tie for the last playoff spot in the 2A. Alicia McElroy hit 3 free throws with one second left, after being fouled on her 3 point shot to give the victory to the Panther's. McElroy finished with 30 points, Maddie Downs added 13 and Darcy Akers had 10 for Washougal. Tayler Blackman scored 13, Kelee Lambert 11, Kylie Farmer 12 for Mark Morris.

NOW EARLY 1st ROUND PLAYOFF RESULTS

In the 3A, 1st round, Union defeats Columbia River 47 - 44, and secures themselves a trip to the bi-districts. Janae Davis scores 13 to lead the Titan's, and 3 other players Mandy White, Brittany Blumenthal and Mikyla Ogata each had 9 points. Kass Cloyd scored 18, but it was not enough for the Chieftain's.

In the 4A, 1st round, Kelso handles Mountain View 68 - 40. The Lassie's pretty much dominated the game from the tip. Carly Perkins scores 19 points and grabs 15 rebounds to lead Kelso. Mackenzie Martin scored 19 also and Yale Pritchett had 11. Haley Holboke scored 12 for the Thunder.

In the other game played in the 1st round Heritage out plays Battle Ground 38 - 21, and moves on to face Kelso at Skyview on Friday. Emily Myers had 12 to lead the Timberwolve's and Haley Grossman scored 10 for the Tiger's.

Season finally for 3A & 4A

Evergreen secures 2nd Place in GSHL 4A with a victory over Mt. View 40 - 38. Justine Joudrey refuse to lose, scoring 11 of her 19 points in the final quarter, to spur a come back from a 7 point deficit for the Plainsmen. Shamerica Scott held to 8 points but hit big shots when it matter late. Carly Holboke scored 24 points, hitting 5 "3's" for the Thunder.

Skyview defeated Heritage 52 - 43, slipping the Timberwolve's from 2nd place to 4th place in the GSHL 4A. The balance attack of the Storm and their height was the difference. Macy Mukensnabl scored 10 to led Skyview. Clara Russell had 10 for Heritage.

Kelso ran away early then cruised in to victory over Battle Ground 59 - 48, to secure 3rd place in the GSHL 4A. Carley Perkins scored 15 points and 15 rebounds and Mackenzie Martin had 12 to led the Lassie's. Haley Grossman scored 19 for the Tiger's.

Prairie's undefeated league record holds up for another year and another GSHL 3A league championship, beating Columbia River 69 - 63. Angela Gelhar's 27 and Lauren Goecke's 19 led the Falcon's to a come from behind victory. Kass Cloyd scored 19, Brittany Landon 10, Aimee Bolton 14 for the Chieftain's.

Camas 43 Union 33, the Papermaker's lock up 2nd Place in the GHSL 3A with the win. Melissa Williams scores 16 points and Katelyn Henson has 10 to lead Camas. Brittany Blumenthal had 10 for the Titan's.

Hudson's Bay gives Fort Vancouver it's 20th loss of the season with a 57 - 36 win. Alexis Gleason has 18, Kelsey Frasier, Ramona Vercher, and Treneisha Doyle all scored 10 for the Eagle's. Mar’shay Moore scored 13 for the Trapper's.

Washougal was taken to overtime by Hockinson's 30 point 4th quarter, but the Panther's held off the Hawk's in OT for a 70 - 63 victory. Alicia McElroy scores 34 points and Darcy Akers scored 11 for Washougal. The Hawk's were led by Ashley Haden scoring 31 and Amanda McCarty had 19.

It took Double Overtime for Ridgefield to defeat R.A. Long 59 - 55. Shelby Williams scores 23 and Nichole Kates had 17 for the Spudder's. Sadie Petersen had 21, Tirzah Coalman 15 and Christina Driscoll 11 for the Lumberjill's.

Woodland remain undefeated with a big win of Mark Morris 71 - 41. Hot outside shooting from Charity Arn with 14, Kylie Moses with 16, Emily Smith with 12 and Taylor McCullough scoring 12 also for the Beaver's was the difference.

Monday night scores

Skyview, regular season champs in the 4A. With a victory over Kelso 54 - 40 the Storm wraps it up. Macy Mukensnabl had 12 points and Katie Swanson finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Storm. Carly Perkins had 13 points and 12 rebounds for Kelso.

Mountain View searching for it's first league victory took Heritage to double overtime but came up short 46 - 41. Tashawna Gordon scored 12 and Nettie Gould 13 to led the Timberwolve's. Carley Holboke scored 22 for the Thunder.

Evergreen defeats Battle Ground 48 - 39. Justine Joudrey scores 22, Shamerica Scott 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Plainsmen. Kiley Thomas hits for 15 for the Tiger's.

Prairie was only able to squeeze out 4 points in the 4th quarter against Camas, but it was just enough to hold on to a 46 - 44 victory and maintain their undefeated in league streak. Angela Gelhar 22 and Jackie Lanz 10 led the Falcon's. Kayla Roche and Melissa Williams led the Papermaker's with 13 points each.

It took a while for Union to get started but the Titan's turned it up in the 2nd and 3rd quarter to walk away from Fort Vancouver 55 - 21. Mandy White scored 12 and Janae Davis had 10 for the Titan's.

A strong 4th quarter for Columbia River defeats Hudson's Bay 54 - 46. Tied at the end of 3, River out scored Bay 16 to 8 in the 4th. Lauren Heller hit for 15, Kass Cloyd 16 to pace the Chieftain's. Alexis Gleason scored 26 and Brittany Davis 12 for the Eagle's.

Woodland remains undefeated in league with a 21 point victory over Washougal 66 - 45. Emily Smith 24 and Charity Arn 14 pace the Beaver's. Alicia McElroy scores 13 and Maddie Down scores 11 for the Panther's.

Mark Morris holds off R.A. Long 40 - 30. Balance scoring led the way for the Monarch's. Sadie Petersen scores 12 for the Lumberjill's.

Melissa Williams has a coming out party for Camas against Columbia River. Widely considered one of the best players in SW Washington, Melissa finally breaks out with a 30 point game to led the Papermaker's to a 57 - 41 victory. Katelyn Henson also hit double figures with 10. Laura Luther scored 14 for River.

Thursday night in the Gym

Just when you thought things had settled in, in the 4A GSHL, Evergreen pulls off a big win over 1st place Skyview 51 - 45. After falling behind 17-6 in the first quarter and being down by 10 to end the third quarter, the Plainsmen score 23 points in the 4th quarter for the victory. Justine Joudrey scored 10 in the 4th, and 17 overall to led Evergreen. Sheleena Giles scored 13 and Audrey Frazier had 10 for the Plainsmen. Larissa Hamilton scored 11 to led the Storm.

Kelso used a balance scoring attack, no one in double figures, but held on to a 44 - 41 victory over Heritage. Emily Meyers scored 14 for the Timberwolve's. Clara Russell didn't play. Carly Perkins was in foul trouble all night and only scored 9.

Battle Ground squeezed out a 40 - 35 victory over Mountain View. The Tiger's held the Thunder to 5 points in the forth. Kiley Thomas scored 19 for the Tiger's. Emma Duchesne scored 10 for Mt. View.

Woodland holds on to first place and remains undefeated in the 2A with a victory over R.A. Long 52 - 33. Charity Arn scored 18 and Taylor McCullough hit for 10 to lead the Beaver's. Tirzah Coalman scored 10 for the Lumberjill's.

Ridgefield jump out to a 20-6 lead on Washougal and rolled in for victory 75 - 44. Nichole Kates had 20 points, Shelby Williams 15, and Penny Hughes 10 for the Spudder's. Alicia McElroy's 13 leads the Panther's.

Hockinson defeats Mark Morris 47 - 36. Ashley Haden scored 18, Jenna Haagen hits for 10 and Amanda McCarty scored 12 for the Hawk's.

Prairie takes control early and cruises in to victory over Fort Vancouver 62 - 20. Meghan Lindsley had 13 for the Falcon's.

Union held Hudson's Bay to just 2 points in the first quarter and held on for a 52 - 34 victory. Janae Davis led the Titan's with 12 points, Bre Ongley and Mandy White scored 10 each. Alexis Gleason scored 15 for the Eagle's.

Clearing up the standings in 4A

Heritage ran out early and stayed versus Evergreen 57 - 47. The Timberwolve's broke the press early and had several break away layups to defeat the Plainsmen and take sole position of 2nd place in the GSHL4A. Tashawna Gordon was routinely the beneficiary of those breakaways and ended the game with 18 points. Clara Russell hit 3 "3 pointers" and scored a total of 13 points for the T-wolve's. Justine Joudrey had a team high 20 for Evergreen and Sheleena Giles scored 14.

Skyview tighten it's grip on 1st place with a 50 - 29 victory of Battle Ground. Nice to see Nikki Bond get a few minutes in her come back from ACL injury. Tori Conley led the Storm with 12 points and Maddie Van Liew scored 10. Aubri Squires had 14 for the Tiger's.

Kelso rolled Mt. View 75 - 57. Carly Perkins scored 23, Yale Pritchett 11 and MacKenzie Martin had 15 to pace the Lassie's. The Holboke sisters again led the way for the Thunder, Haley getting 19 and Carly scoring 18.

In the 3A GSHL Prairie continues to roll right along, defeating Hudson's Bay 81 - 38. Leading the scoring for the Falcon's Angela Gelhar with 16, Marielle Ibaretta had 10 and Katarina Vela 11. Alexis Gleason scored 17 to led the Eagle's.

Columbia River picked up a big win over Union 51 - 44. Kass Cloyd scored 14 and Laura Luther added 11 to pace the Chieftain's. Janae Davis and Felicia Odle scored 10 for the Titan's.

Camas keeps a hold of 2nd place with a 68 - 29 thumping of Ft. Vancouver. Melissa Williams gets 18, Haley Smith 16 and Kendra Preuninger tossed in 10 for the Papermaker's. Mar'shay Moore had 10 for the Trapper's.
