The Rumor is Reality

As of June 1st, 2009, I will have excepted the position of head girl's basketball coach at Evergreen High School. Coming off a few very disappointing years, coach Kathy Walker has step down, making the position available for me to step in.

I have coached girls in the Vancouver / Southwest Washington area for several years now, and have made many great friendships and relationships. I have coached and trained girls from as far north as Kelso to Washougal and every school in between including a few players from the Portland area. My genuine desire has always been "to make the players that work with me, better, for when they get back to their high school teams" and "to assist any kids with the desire, to get to the next level of play". I believe I have achieved some level of success at both of these goals. I will continue to do this, I will continue to have Premier Elite, obviously my role will change somewhat. That future is still being worked out.

I did want to say this; Coming out of the club team world, I am very aware of transferring and recruiting of players. It has never been allowed within my program. I stand in full support of the WIAA in their "transferring and recruiting rules" for high school players. I recognize that this practice of kids changing schools for sports and/or coaches recruiting kids just for sports can cause real problems. I believe that students should only transfer for academic and/or personal reasons, and not simply for athletic reasons.

That being said, I suggest everyone stay with the school in the district of which you live. This is not an open invitation to join me at Evergreen, in fact it's a stern warning. There will, of course, be some transfers to Evergreen, and some angry coaches and parents protesting because of it. I just want it to be clear, I'm not out recruiting players to come to Evergreen and will not ever do that.

I wanted to get this out to all of my players, friends, and interested parties.
