OK, the brief holiday celebration is over, back to work "it's hoops time"

Tuesday results, 1/20/09

I headed north last night, looking forward to seeing a couple of players that have put up some good numbers so far this year. Anna Pengra a 6' senior out of Ridgefield was scheduled to play against 5'7 junior Lauren Baker and Hannah Trigg a 5'8 junior both out of LaCenter. The game was played, but Trigg would be the only one of the 3 I'd see play tonight, and she was slowed by an injury. It seems that Pengra is suffering from a back injury, so she sat on a pillow on the bench, cheering on her team. And Baker called the coach just hours before the game, sick with the flu and couldn't get out of the bed. You can just imagine my disappointment.
But I was able to see a good non-league game, some what competitive in the first quarter. A chance to see 2A GHSL Ridgefield HS for the first time. A tough well coached team, solid, with out one of there impact players. And 1A Trico league, LaCenter HS, out man'd tonight but scrappy. The final score was 63 - 39 but it felt, for most of the game, to be closer than that. The Spudder's Lauren Landerholm, Shelby Willimas, and Nichole Kates were just to much for LaCenter's injured Trigg, Marissa Moore and Katrina Chamberlain to overcome.

GSHL 3A
Camas Papermaker's stayed undefeated in league with a victory over the Chieftains at Columbia River last night, 51 - 37. Melissa Williams lead all scoring with 14 points, and Emily Thomas added 11 for Camas.

Union had no problem defeating Hudson's Bay 71 - 23. The Titan's Janae Davis played huge with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Kynnedy Mosley added 15.

Prairie's "victory tour" performed last night to a tune of 75 - 11 over Fort Vancouver. Lauren Goecke toss in 13 points, Lindsey Levanen and Heather Corral had 12 points each for the Falcons.

Congratulations to Skyview's freshman Nikki Bond for being selected the Columbian Newspaper "athlete of the week".
